Pillar 4 · Focus area 2 of 2

Team Transferability

Assess whether the people and capabilities directly required to sustain and develop the product can continue effectively through a transition, including where there is material dependency on particular individuals or risk that critical product capability could be lost.

This focus area belongs to the Coppice Labs Audit for digital-product exit readiness. It sits within Transferability, Pillar 4 of 5.

Why it matters

An acquisition can disrupt product continuity if essential product, engineering, design, technical or domain capability depends on a small number of people who may not remain or whose responsibilities cannot be handed over. Understanding these dependencies helps reveal whether the product can continue without unacceptable key-person risk.

The conclusion we need

Determine whether the people and capabilities directly required to sustain and develop the product can continue effectively through an ownership transition, with material dependencies on individuals, founders, contractors or partners identified and supported by a credible plan to retain, redistribute or replace the affected capability.

What we examine

The questions we will answer

  1. Which capabilities and roles are directly required to sustain and develop the product, and who currently provides them?
  2. Where does product continuity depend materially on particular people or external partners, and what would happen if they became unavailable?
  3. How will critical product capabilities be maintained through an ownership transition?
